the expected number of non-parental ditype tetrads (NPD) was calculated using the equation of Papazian

The NPD ratios, presented in Table 2, were not so calculated. They were calculated using the more general and efficient method described in Stahl (2008) and automated at Stahl Lab Online Tools (http://molbio.uoregon.edu/~fstahl/).
